A written testimony of a relative to the CQC- Care Quality Commission

“My cousin did not enjoy his time in a certain care home, unfortunately and
only stayed one month. I am not altogether sure that this was a reflection
on the care home nor indeed the staff but rather my cousin’s dislike for the
care home system. He decided early on that he prefers his day to be managed
by himself rather than having to slot into a routine that is inevitable when
living in a large group of people such as a care home.

Fortunately, the care workers at LMCB Therahealth Homecare in Bourne were
able to pick up his care package again when he changed his mind about being
in the home – we were of course very grateful that they were able to do
this. Since he returned home in early July and to their care he has
continued to thrive, and we continue to see first class care and support
from the small team there. They remain committed, caring and very competent
to manage his needs well. They clearly are a dedicated team of staff
determined to deliver high quality care in the home.

I have written a few times to you now and I am hoping this is not coming
across as a bit odd – but I think it is so important that given the
significant quantity of people wanting to find fault with care services in
this country that when people are doing a good job that this is equally
recognised. Unfortunately, I am convinced that people are more inclined to
criticise than to praise these services – I am trying to buck the trend! ”
